Our story.

The Big Blue Café officially commenced operations on May 16, 2001, succeeding the Eureka Baking Company. Initially, our offerings were comprised of deli sandwiches, pastries, and coffee as we worked on installing a fully-equipped commercial kitchen on the premises. In May 2002, we introduced what has become our signature American diner/cafe menu. Over the years, this menu has seen the addition of several dishes and the discontinuation of others, yet its core remains largely unchanged. We continue to introduce new items and feature a variety of specials that provide fresh and intriguing culinary options.

One of our primary goals is to serve the community with high-quality food that incorporates local ingredients whenever feasible. Humboldt County and its environs are abundant in fresh produce, meats, and other products, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our local farmers and ranchers. As a proud member of this community, we are committed to supporting local agriculture and producers, offering our patrons and visitors a taste of what our region has to offer.

Providing nourishment and enjoyment through our food is immensely rewarding. The Big Blue Café is more than just a place to eat; it's a venue where we can be a part of our customers' lives, even if briefly. We consider ourselves a family and are profoundly thankful for the opportunity to work and reside in Northern California, a region we believe to be unparalleled in its beauty and community spirit.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our customers for their continued support. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.
